On Wednesday (AEDT), Rose took to social media to announce he had proposed to his partner Alaina Anderson in New York’s Madison Square Garden, which is the home court of the Knicks.
Rose posted a photo to Instagram of he and Anderson sharing a romantic dinner on a dimly-lit MSG, accompanied by a lengthy caption including: “Believe the words that I will have your back and love u forever”.
His followers were quick to notice his partner has sporting a huge engagement ring on her hand in the photo.
Anderson also shared photos and videos of the ring, captioning her post: “MRS. ROSE MY FACE HURTS Just got engaged in MSG nothing major!”.
NBA fans were blown away by the massive rock Rose had splashed out on for the proposal.
“So yeah, Derrick Rose got engaged tonight,” sports anchor Ryan Field tweeted.
“And this is the biggest ring I’ve ever seen.”
Sports Illustrated TV host Ashley Nicole Moss added: “Derrick Rose just executed my dream proposal CONGRATS LEGEND!”

Rose is best known for winning the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award in 2011, becoming the youngest player to ever claim the title at the age of 22.
Unfortunately, the point guard’s career has largely been riddled by serious injuries since then.
But Rose has enjoyed a late-career resurgence in the last couple of years.
He was traded from the Detroit Pistons to New York midway through last season and was one of the Knicks’ best players, helping them reach the playoffs for the first time in eight years.
His impressive form earned him a lucrative three-year contract extension worth $58 (AUD) million in the off-season.
Rose suffered a minor ankle strain last weekend but is expected to play in his team’s first game of the NBA season, which gets underway on October 19.
